Prairie, Dune & Shore: Living and Learning in the Region

The saying goes that you should write about what you love. I spent many hours trying to decide what kind of writing I wanted to do. Ultimately, I decided that I wanted to write about two things I love to do: being an educator and enjoying all the Region (that would be the Chicagoland Region aka Northwest Indiana) has to offer. For the moment, I have created two categories for this site: Living in the Region and Learning in the Region. In the first, I share tips, sites and things to do in Northwest Indiana. The focus of the second category are my experiences as an educator in the area working with students from sixth grade through college students.

The name Prairie, Dune & Shore comes from the unique geographical features where several different ecosystems come together. All of this wonder is stretched along the Southern Shore of Lake Michigan, one of the Great Lakes, which is also home to the largest fresh water sand dunes in the world. The area along this shore is home to a host of communities from struggling urban cities to small farming communities.
